Job Description

An exciting TFG Exact Ladieswear Designer job position has arisen within the Design and Manufacturing Division, for a Ladieswear designer for the Exact Brand. We are looking for a responsible, organised individual, who enjoys working in a team environment.
The main objective of the designer role will be in charge of guiding all steps of the design process, from initial conception to final manufacture processes.
Other responsibilities may include monitoring current fashion trends and movements with the purpose of designing products that meet the Exact Brand’s purchasing preferences.
Candidate should have strong communication skills and analytical abilities.

Exact Ladieswear Designer Responsibilities:
Compile research from various sources on global and local trends and to create a seasonal point of view to be presented back to your team.
Design seasonal commodity updates, based on global trend and key lessons learnt (includes direction on silhouette, styling and fabric, print and colour)
Incorporate brand handwriting / personality into the ranges and become the brand custodian. Understand & resonate with the Value market segmentation.
Provide comprehensive and technical product drawings and tech packs, to ensure relevant and cost effective product
Provide an effective test options in order to establish new product categories, and relevant iterations on existing product lines.
Provide the merchandise teams with the relevant trend information and knowledge that’s unique and brand right on an on-going basis.

Exact Ladieswear Designer Requirements:
Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design
Proven experience as a designer (5+ years) – preferably in Ladieswear
Practical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and trims
Excellent skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Microsoft Office

Ability to source and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment
Excellent planning, organising and multi-tasking ability required
High level of commitment and have the ability to work independently
Have a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientated
Interpersonal skills, assertive and able to communicate at all levels, as well as present to large groups
Agility and team player mind-set a must

Preference will be given, but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
